I offer coaching and mentoring to designer-makers and small business owners. If you would like help in taking your business or design ideas forward please get in touch with meby email at [email protected] or call on 0799 848014 for a friendly chat on how coaching and mentoring works.
Mentoring is conducted by telephone or Skype (although face to face over a cup of tea and cake is available if you are local) and consists of a one hour session where you can pick my brains, ask all those questions you have, and spend time brainstorming and generally working out how to take forward your business or creative ideas.
Previous clients have discussed topics such as pricing work, approaching and having work accepted by Liberty of London and other large retailers or galleries, preparing for large trade fairs and getting press and publicity. Creating a strong brand and positioning your brand correctly are two of the most important things for small businesses and I have a lot of experience in working with designer-makers to ensure that you get this right.
Prices start at £45 for a one-off mentoring telephone call but I know that when you are starting out every penny counts (and I love to barter) so contact me if you design beautiful products or sell fabulous vintage goods that you may want to swap and we can see what is possible!
In addition I also offer a ‘mystery shopper’ service for your website or online store. This involves an in depth look at your website with honest feedback about your product descriptions, photographs, page layout and more.
Coaching sessions work differently to mentoring; in coaching the emphasis will be on you to set goals which we will discuss and I will work with you to help you achieve them. In these sessions I won’t give you as much advice, it will be about exploring what YOU think is right for you and your business. Coaching sessions are usually booked in packages of 4 or 6 sessions so that we have time to work on goals and see a real difference to your brand.
Simply get in touch for more information and an informal chat.
Testimonial from Von Allen, Heartfelt Dogs
“The coaching session with Sara Jane was was not only very timely for me, but proved to be just the catalyst I needed. It was invaluable to have the perspective of another professional working in the same field. Often you can be too close to your own work and blind to the little things that can make a real difference. There were certain aspects my business that I wanted to address, for example market placement, marketing strategy, press and publicity. SJ encouraged me to look at my current position, work out where I wanted to be and formulate a strategy as to how to move forward.
SJ is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of small business development and management and was able to offer alternative ways of looking at things and encouraged me to look at things from different perspectives. I was worried that the session might leave me with more unanswered questions than answers, and although we threw a lot of issues back and forth, at the end of the session I came away with a clear idea as to the direction I wanted to go in and a very tangible list of ‘things to do’, which was very satisfying.
The session made me feel re-energised and galvanised me into action. I went home that night and began putting a whole range of things in place. I still have a lot of decisions to make, bit since the session, I have been working my way through the issues we talked about, tackling them one by one with a new found confidence.”
